MAY 17, 2008: SECOND ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL HERDELJEZI (ROMA/GYPSY) MUSIC & DANCE FESTIVAL
This year's festival will be held at Hearst Hall on the beautiful grounds of the National Cathedral School, 3609 Woodley Rd., NW, Washington, DC 20016
Teachers/Performers include: Reyhan Tuzsuz, Amy Luna Manderino, Steve & Susan Kotansky, N. Scott Robinson, Brad Sidwell, Seido Salifoski and Romski Boji, and special guest, Sani Rafati of Voice Of Roma.

CLASSES: 10:30am - 5:30pm
DANCE: Spanish Flamenco with Manton, Rajasthani Kalbeliya, Turkish Romani, Macedonian Romani, Greek Romani, and Hungarian/Transylvanian Romani
MUSIC: Romani Dumbek, Rajasthani Frame Drum Technique, Romani Singing, Clarinet & Cimbus technique, plus Romani Percussive Techniques from the Romani Trail!
JUST ADDED! FREE CHILDREN'S HOUR: (12:30pm - 1:30pm) Romani storytelling and crafts with Nina Amaya in Hearst Hall. Plus Free children's Rhythm Circus in the courtyard - all day - provided by Daveed and Port Discovery of Baltimore!

*We are hoping to raise money this year to help Reyhan and her family relocate. The Roma in Reyhan's village in Gazi Osman Pasa, Istanbul are being forced to leave their homes and relocate so that new condos can be built there. They are compensated very little or not at all. Reyhan's family has lived in this same "mahala" for generations. It is their home. We are hoping to help them find a new home with a studio where they can continue teaching their Romani dance and music. A portion of proceeds from the festival after expenses are met will be donated to the Tuzsuz family. Also, all of the Sunday workshop after expenses will go to help the Tuzsuz family find a new home.
